Is AI/AGI changing what we really value about work and life? I’m starting to wonder.

Future of Work

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on why work feels so central to our identities and wellbeing. For most of us, it’s not just about earning money—it’s about contribution, purpose, and feeling like we belong. But with AI and potential AGI on the horizon, I wonder: will work still hold the same importance?

I mean, if AI can take over most routine tasks, what happens to our sense of purpose? Will we redefine what ‘meaningful work’ even means? Or could this shift lead us to a better balance—more time for creativity, community, or self-discovery?

I’m conflicted, honestly. On one hand, I worry about job displacement, economic stability, and the anxiety many of us feel about the future. On the other, I see a possibility for a world where work isn’t the core of our identity, and we focus more on human connections and passions.

What do you think? Will AI make work less important in our lives, or will it push us to find new ways to feel fulfilled? And how should we prepare for a future where the meaning of work might be completely different?

I’d love to hear different perspectives—how are you personally thinking about this shift? Do you see AI as a threat or an opportunity to redefine what really matters?
