I’m genuinely worried about how many jobs will be gone by 2030 due to AI—am I overthinking this?

Future of Work

Lately, I keep seeing reports about how AI is set to replace a huge chunk of jobs—clerical work, customer service, even driving. It’s honestly making me nervous about my own job and the future for people in general.

For example, just last week I read that data entry clerks, receptionists, and cashiers might be almost entirely automated within the next 5 years. Self-checkout, chatbots, and AI scheduling tools are already handling things that used to need a human. It’s like, what’s left for us to do?

I get that automation can free us from repetitive tasks, but I worry about what happens when entire industries start shrinking or disappearing. How do we prepare? Are there skills we should be focusing on now that AI can’t easily replicate?

Plus, I wonder about the social and economic impacts—mass unemployment, inequality, mental health. It feels overwhelming trying to keep up with all these rapid changes.

Would love to hear from folks who are thinking about this or have already started planning their next moves. Are you changing your career plan? Do you think we’ll find new kinds of jobs or is it a total wipeout?

Honestly, it’s hard not to feel a little scared, but maybe there’s also hope for new opportunities. What do you all think? How are you approaching this AI-driven shift?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.
