I’ve been reading about AI and AGI nonstop lately, and honestly, it’s messing with my head in a weird way. On one hand, I get super excited thinking about all the things AI could do — solving climate change, curing diseases, helping us learn and create in ways we never imagined.
But then I also feel this gnawing anxiety. Will the jobs I know disappear? Will society even be the same? Sometimes, I joke with friends that I feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster — one moment I’m laughing at hilarious AI memes, and the next I’m worried about a future where humans might not be the main drivers of innovation.
What’s wild to me is how different this feels compared to earlier tech shifts. Like, with the Industrial Revolution, people knew the machines were coming, but it still took decades to change everything. Now, with models like GPT-4, Midjourney, and emerging AGI concepts, it’s happening so fast I can’t keep up.
I guess I’m just curious — has anyone else felt this way? Are we just overthinking, or is it normal to experience this weird mix of hope and fear? Also, how are y’all trying to prepare mentally or practically for this crazy future?
Would love to hear your honest thoughts — I think we’re all trying to figure out how to navigate this unprecedented moment.
